The care landscape is changing. The pandemic may have highlighted the challenges being faced in care homes, but there has been a movement for rejuvenation of care, the tools used to provide care and the lifestyle facilitated for care home residents. The healthcare industry has recognised the importance of digital adoption in meeting these markers, and technology providers have been working in tandem to make the process as fluid as possible.
Having spent the last fifteen years making their stamp on the NHS, WiFi SPARK has worked hard to become the institution’s most respected provider. It is across these years that the company has been able to work with Trusts to understand the complex needs of a variety of patients and develop a patient engagement platform that responds to them.
Developing and deploying SPARK® Media across the NHS, WiFi SPARK has most recently tailored a solution to care homes. Centering, as each of its solutions do, on getting the most out of a strong and reliable WiFi connection, the WiFi specialist has built an easily deployable platform spanning from a guest-access WiFi connection that provides value for the care home whilst enriching the lives of its residents through enhanced communication methods and tailored entertainment resources.
Whether it be enabling video call consultations between residents and healthcare providers or integrating with the home’s clinical software, the platform strives to make the provision of care as streamlined as possible. By building from the WiFi, it's ensured that caregivers can move freely about the estate or between different homes whilst remaining connected with all of the necessary resources and their NHS Mail, just a click away.
Tailored entertainment resources such as a selection of dementia-specific sites, ensure that staff and residents have easy access to the various content that has been developed to make the lives of those living with the syndrome a little bit easier. The BBC’s Reminiscence and Music Memories library showcase a selection of videos, radio snippets and music from across the decades to stimulate long-term memory. This is teamed with an assortment of entertainment applications easily accessible on any device connected to the internet. From television to film, radio to newspapers, providing an entertainment suite to residents and visitors has never been simpler.
WiFi SPARK’s managed service ensures that investing in digital has never been easier. Having recently deployed their solution in The Garth Care Home in Kington, the WiFi SPARK team worked to meet the needs of residents and staff in upgrading the WiFi provision to elevate the home’s offering. Staff can easily move about the estate remaining connected so to utilise the easy access to digital health records.
To reduce feelings of isolation and keep residents connected with more people than ever, The Garth utilised the Unite video calling solution. Enabling more than just a connection for virtual consultation, the platform doesn’t need an account to be set up, only the phone number of the call recipient to be entered and then an unlimited, free connection is facilitated. This ensures that the application is available to anyone of any digital competency, on home-owned tablets.
Integrating digital services with the WiFi provision guaranteed the safety of The Garth's residents during the pandemic. With a number of safety procedures in place to ensure that no guests would bring the virus into the home, WiFi SPARK prioritised the implementation of the video calling application to aid in the remote consultation and ensure that all medical appointments were met even if the home had to lockdown.
Employing the dementia-specific library of content, The Garth’s residents have enjoyed all the BBC’s curation has to offer.
WiFi SPARK takes pride in developing an entirely tailored solution that works to the needs of the client and their end-users. This means that the solution is entirely buildable and can grow with you and your users over time and through increasing digital ability.
