PROJECT MANAGER

Job Description 

WiFi SPARK prides itself on being able to offer our customers a fully managed installation service for their new or upgraded WiFi system. Our Project Managers are instrumental in delivering this service and provide a pivotal role in ensuring its success. As the main point of contact with the customer you will make sure they are always kept updated on the progress of their installation and will coordinate all site activity with engineers and subcontractors. A key responsibility will be to plan and manage all internal tasks, identifying risks and making sure the project stays on schedule and within budget.

Most of our projects are short-term, lasting around 6-8 weeks, so you can have up to 20 active projects in flow at any point in time. As such you will be very comfortable with managing multiple concurrent projects and will be adept at managing conflicting priorities and managing your time effectively.

Objectives and responsibilities

  • Full responsibility for the successful delivery of projects on time, to specification and within budget
  • Creation, management and reporting of project plans, schedules and delegated tasks
  • Recording and mitigating project risks and issues
  • Cost control is expected, especially in relation to variations from agreed kit lists as well as ensuring project resource expended matches that quoted on the order
  • Work with disparate groups of people both inside and outside the business to form a virtual project team
  • Plan project communications in the most appropriate medium and maintain clarity and visibility of the plan for all stakeholders
  • Regular communication with customers and attendance of project meetings on customer sites

 

Essential Attributes

  • An experienced project manager with formal training in one or more methodologies
  • Organised, structured and logical in approach with excellent documentation skills
  • A good team player with leadership skills, able to get the best out of others
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with good personal presence
  • Willingness to travel and meet customers and contractors
  • Agile, flexible and robust; able to withstand pressures of challenging situations
  • Experienced in delivering multiple, concurrent projects within a telecoms or IT environment

 

Reporting line

The Project manager will report to the Programme Manager as part of the Operations function of WiFi SPARK.  Full training and support will be provided as part of a Continuous Professional Development programme.
