Job Description 

Test Automation Specialist


WiFi SPARK is the leading provider of managed internet access services including WiFi, media and software solutions. This is role is replacing a contracting position in the Software Development team reporting to the QA Team Lead, based in our HQ in Exeter. The main responsibility of this role is to ensure that existing automated tests are maintained and updated and that new automated tests are developed and used wherever practical.

The successful candidate will be proficient with Selenium webdriver and Java and may use Selenium with Python. You will have a track record of developing testing frameworks and incorporating automated UI tests into CI/CD pipelines. You will have a good understanding of networks and WiFi networking concepts.

The Test Automation Specialist will be fully integrated in the Development team and will be involved in projects and changes from the start.

The successful candidate will have experience with test management tools and other aspects of Quality Assurance.

You will be involved in creating the automated testing approach and executing various types of automated tests.

As an experienced software testing professional, you should have an excellent track record of quality improvement of the products you have worked on.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Review, revise and maintain existing automated regression tests to ensure that they remain effective.
  • Review functional specifications and design documents to develop automated tests where appropriate.
  • Perform API testing using appropriate tools.
  • Perform Webservice and Microservice testing.
  • Identify, record, document thoroughly and track bugs.
  • Provide progress reports at regular intervals and at the end of a project.

 

Skills and experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in a Test Automation Specialist role
  • Experience of network architectures, application frameworks, APIs and webservices.
  • Good time-management skills
  • Knowledge of various development methodologies (SCRUM, KANBAN, Waterfall, TDD/BDD …)

 

Knowledge of any of the following would be an advantage:

  • Performance testing with Jmeter or similar
  • Security testing (OWASP)
  • Mobile automation testing (Appium)
  • AWS
  • Jira and Confluence
  • Postman
  • Jenkins
  • BDD and Cucumber
