Challenges Solved

Beginning work on the Collection’s flagship Celtic Manor Resort Hotel back in 2015, WiFi SPARK was able to elevate the brand’s premium offering by delivering top-of-the-line WiFi, security, and support to the venue’s international guests, visitors and staff. The relationship between The Celtic Collection and WiFi SPARK has blossomed over the years and the two have since gone on to expand The Celtic Collection estate, putting premium WiFi and user experience first.

Goals

  • Deliver high-speed, reliable WiFi for staff, visitors and guests

  • Develop each venue’s brand identity through a tailored user experience portal (UX)

  • Schedule content changes to the UX portal to align with events

  • Create a virtual central information hub accessible to all via the guest-access WiFi on the venue specific user experience portal

  • Provide reinforced technical security through physical and cloud-based servers

  • Allow access to analytics information on each site, enabling The Celtic Collection to understand their visitors

  • Guide the venues and their end users by delivering 24/7/365 support from WiFi SPARK’s UK-based Service Desk.

Our Solution

The Celtic Manor Resort is a familiar and welcome site for visitors to South Wales, welcoming visitors from across the globe each year since its opening in 1982, it is the flagship jewel in The Celtic Collection’s estate.

Set across 2,000 acres of panoramic parkland at Wales’ gateway, the venue hosts the main hotel, restaurants, a golf course, activity course and much more. In 2014 the Collection added 10 new Hunter Lodges to the estate offering an independent self-catering option for guests. With this expansion, The Celtic Collection decided it was time to reinvigorate the WiFi provision to ensure each and every acre experienced a premium WiFi experience.

WiFi SPARK was able to develop a tailored user experience (UX) to reinforce the Celtic Manor brand identity through a WiFi-activated online presence. The UX is the welcome screen that visitors are greeted with upon connecting to the network. Delivering a robust and far-reaching WiFi provision as a base and utilising the power of cloud-based and physical server installations to cover provision in high availability, WiFi SPARK engineers were able to guarantee a strong connection across the site.

It is this reliable WiFi solution that stages the UX. Developed in tandem with the Resort, it is able to align with brand themes and design styles, display exciting imagery and convey site-specific messaging such as where to find answers to questions or promotion of on-site activities. The UX greets visitors and guests upon their connection to the WiFi and delivers a premium WiFi experience for users, whilst engaging the visitor in the Celtic Manor branding and messaging. Through WiFi SPARK’s Analytics dashboard, signup data is imported through the portal meaning that each Resort can promote the latest campaigns by email, hopefully resulting in return or new business to other brands within the Collection.

The solution is protected with content filtering to ensure safe surfing and the ability to collect analytical data on WiFi usage. WiFi SPARK also provides a 24/7/365 UK-based Service Desk available whenever needed to solve issues as they arise whether they be from an end user having trouble connecting or a larger site issue.

From Friends to Partners

The Celtic Collection and WiFi SPARK have grown from friends to partners in less than a decade and as the Collection’s estates have grown, it has invited WiFi SPARK along to continue to engage visitors with The Celtic Collection.

Beginning with the Celtic Manor Resort and expanding to hotels across Wales, WiFi SPARK has ensured that each solution is entirely tailored and entirely customisable in alignment with events and initiatives.

When developing its International Convention Centre Wales in 2019, The Celtic Collection turned to WiFi SPARK to deploy a dynamic convention centre solution, similar to its successful installations at ACC Liverpool, Manchester Central, Westpoint Exeter and others.

Similarly, with its most recent ventures at Cardiff’s Parkgate Hotel and Tŷ Hotel Milford Waterfront, WiFi SPARK was able to deliver fast, reliable and free WiFi to guests and visitors, all whilst reinforcing the premium brand identity associated with The Celtic Collection.

About

Building from the flagship Celtic Manor Resort in South Wales, The Celtic Collection is a family of leisure hotels and venues. From hosting the 2014 NATO Summit and the 2010 Ryder Cup, the Celtic Manor Resort hosts three championship golf courses, luxury spas, a range of restaurants, exceptional conference facilities, and activities for all of the family.

The Celtic Collection also includes the 19th century Manor House, the idyllic Newbridge on Usk country inn, the stylish Coldra Court Hotel, and the essential convenience of the Tŷ Hotel Magor.

A joint venture partnership with the Welsh Government developed the International Convention Centre Wales at Celtic Manor in 2019, and more recent expansions have included opening The Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff in Autumn 2021 in partnership with the Welsh Rugby Union, and the new Tŷ Hotel Milford Waterfront this spring in partnership with the Port of Milford Haven.

The Future

The Celtic Collection has gone from strength to strength diversifying its hospitality offering over the last 40 years. However, the future is bright as the Collection continues to invest in technology, such as a premium WiFi solution, that enriches the guest experience.

Additions to further complement the experience could see the provision of utilising analytics to inform innovation or regeneration in future projects.

Whilst the future is an exciting prospect for holiday makers, it’s the opportunity to showcase teamwork, partnership, and excellence through service delivery that exhilarates WiFi SPARK.
